Fibroid Development in Women

20% to 80% of women develop fibroids by age 50.

About 20 percent to 80 percent of women develop fibroids by the time they reach age 50. Fibroids are most common in women in their 40s and early 50s.

According to the United Nations, many people of African descent encountered disregard or neglect when presenting illness, pain, or symptoms to medical personnel. Women of African descent with conditions like fibroids, common amongst Black women, reported the minimizing of excruciating pain until surgery became an emergency.
